A little history

Deerfield was settled by English colonists in 1673 and incorporated in 1677; the Raid on Deerfield in February 1704 during Queen Anne's War killed dozens of colonists and took more than 100 captive, including minister John Williams's daughter Eunice, who remained with the Mohawk.

Old Deerfield's collection of colonial and Federal-era houses was preserved through a Colonial Revival restoration effort beginning in the late 19th century, led in part by Charlotte Alice Baker, and now forms the Historic Deerfield museum district.
