A little history

The town was first settled in 1767 and originally called Gageborough, for British General Thomas Gage, before being incorporated as Windsor in 1771.

The name was changed to Windsor after Gage's association with the British side of the Revolutionary War made the original name unpopular; many settlers had come from Windsor, Connecticut.
