Weymouth sits on the South Shore along Weymouth Back River, Weymouth Fore River and Hingham Bay, southeast of Quincy. Settled in 1622 as the Wessagusset Colony, it was incorporated as a town in 1635, making it one of the oldest settlements in Massachusetts, and adopted a city form of government in 1999 while keeping the name Town Hall. The town is organized around four village centers: North Weymouth, East Weymouth, South Weymouth and Weymouth Landing.

A little history

Weymouth was settled in 1622 as the Wessagusset Colony, making it one of the earliest European settlements in Massachusetts, and was incorporated as the town of Weymouth in 1635.

Shoemaking was a major Weymouth industry from the 18th century into the 20th, with shoe factories operating in town until 1973.

Weymouth adopted a city form of government in 1999 while retaining its historic Town Hall, built in 1928 as a replica of Boston's Old State House.
