A little history
Nipmuc sachems deeded land that became Uxbridge in 1663, and the town was set off from Mendon and incorporated in 1727.
Uxbridge became a major textile manufacturing center during the Industrial Revolution, with more than twenty mills operating in the 1800s producing woolen goods, cashmere, and military uniforms.
The town's mills produced the wool fabric known as 'Uxbridge Blue,' used in the first U.S. Air Force dress uniforms.
