A little history
Wethersfield was founded in 1634 by a Puritan settlement party that included John Oldham; it was incorporated in 1637 along with Windsor and Hartford as one of Connecticut's three oldest English towns.
In May 1781, George Washington and French Lt. Gen. Rochambeau met at the Joseph Webb House on Main Street to plan the Siege of Yorktown, which led to Britain's surrender and American independence.
Wethersfield was a center of New England's onion trade from the late 1700s through the mid-1800s, earning the nickname 'Oniontown' for its Wethersfield red onion.
