A little history

West Hartford began as the "West Division" of Hartford, laid out in 1672 as 72 long lots between present-day Quaker Lane and Mountain Road, and was incorporated as its own town in 1854.

West Hartford Center takes its name from the parish meeting house that stood at Main Street and Farmington Avenue; the First Congregational Church, now in its fifth building, still stands on that corner.
