A little history
The area was originally part of Plymouth and known as Plymouth Hollow before being settled around 1728.
Clockmaker Seth Thomas established a factory in the village in 1812-1813, and the town was renamed for him when it incorporated separately from Plymouth in 1875.
After the devastating flood of 1955, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built flood-control dams on the Naugatuck River system that still protect the town today.
