A little history

The oldest house in Watertown still standing was built in 1735 on Main Street, and Revolutionary War-era poet John Trumbull was born in town in 1750.

Watertown was officially established in 1780 when the Westbury ecclesiastical society separated from Waterbury (then spelled Watterbury).

The Taft School, a private boarding school, was established in Watertown in 1893 and remains there today.
