A little history

Tewksbury was set off from Billerica and officially incorporated on December 17, 1734.

The town was the site of the Tewksbury Almshouse, established by the Massachusetts General Court in 1852 and opened in 1854 to house poor and indigent people from across the state; it later became Tewksbury Hospital.

A powerful tornado swept through Tewksbury on July 24, 1857.
