A little history

Sharon was incorporated in 1775 as Stoughtonham, a name it carried until it was renamed Sharon in 1783.

During the American Revolution, a local foundry in what is now Sharon produced cannonballs and cannons for the Continental effort.

Deborah Sampson, who served in the Continental Army disguised as a man, lived in Sharon after the war until her death; she is honored with a statue at the public library.
