Seekonk is a town in the northwestern corner of Bristol County, on the Massachusetts-Rhode Island line just east of Providence. It was incorporated in 1812 from western Rehoboth, and its border with Rhode Island shifted in 1862 when a portion of Tiverton, Rhode Island was awarded to Massachusetts while about two-thirds of old Seekonk went to Rhode Island. The Ten Mile River runs through town toward Narragansett Bay.

A little history

Seekonk was incorporated in 1812 from western Rehoboth.

King Philip's War began in the area in 1675, following earlier peace treaties between Chief Massasoit and the region's colonists.

In 1862, a boundary adjustment gave part of Tiverton, Rhode Island to Massachusetts while roughly two-thirds of old Seekonk was assigned to Rhode Island.
