Revere Beach
A state-run beach along Massachusetts Bay, opened in 1896 and often described as the first public beach in the United States. It has a restored bathhouse and pavilions, a walking path, and hosts the National Sand Sculpting Festival in summer.

A little history
The area was settled in 1630 as Rumney Marsh and remained part of Boston until 1739; it was set off as North Chelsea in 1846, renamed Revere for Paul Revere in 1871, and incorporated as a city in 1914.
Revere Beach opened in 1896 as a state reservation, often cited as the first public beach in the United States.
Revere was the site of fighting during the 1775 Battle of Chelsea Creek, an early engagement of the American Revolution.
