A little history
The Assabet Woolen Mill produced wool fabric from 1846 to 1950, including cloth for Union Army uniforms during the Civil War, and the mill village around it became the town of Maynard, incorporated in 1871.
Digital Equipment Corporation was headquartered in the former mill complex from 1957 to 1998, a period that made Maynard a center of the Massachusetts minicomputer industry.
Maynard was temporarily renamed "Mayenard" for Super Bowl LX in February 2026, a nod to the town's name resembling the New England Patriots quarterback's surname.
