A little history
Holland was originally settled as part of Wales, and was set off and incorporated as its own town on July 5, 1783.
The town is named for Lord Holland, an English statesman who lobbied in Parliament for American independence.
Holland separated from Wales in part because the town center of Wales was on the far side of a mountain, making travel difficult for residents.
