Living in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts

East Longmeadow is a town in Hampden County, in the Pioneer Valley region of western Massachusetts, just southeast of Springfield. It began as the East Village section of Longmeadow and was set off as its own town in 1894. Nineteenth-century brownstone quarries drove much of its early growth, and its town center at Center Square remains built around that history.

East Longmeadow has no major river; most of town lies outside the mapped 1-percent-annual-chance flood zone, but low areas along brooks and drainage paths fall in FEMA Zone A or AE and are regulated under the town's Floodplain Overlay District. We check FEMA's map before you offer.

Foundations

Ask about foundation testing

On a home with a poured concrete foundation, ask whether it has been tested.
