South Windsor
A little history
The area that became South Windsor was part of the town of East Windsor, incorporated separately from Windsor in 1768; South Windsor split off as its own town in 1845.
Tobacco has been a major crop grown in South Windsor since its founding, and the town also supplied more than 200 volunteers during the American Revolution.
Theologian Jonathan Edwards was born in South Windsor (then still part of Windsor); his father, minister Timothy Edwards, is buried on Main Street, where the town's church was built in 1698.
