A little history
Norwich was founded in 1659 by English settlers who purchased land from the Mohegan sachem Uncas, and it grew as a mill and manufacturing center where the Yantic and Shetucket rivers meet to form the Thames.
The city was incorporated in 1784 and consolidated its city and town of Norwich governments into a single municipality in 1952.
The Norwich Courier's October 18, 1826 edition contains the first written use of the word "hello" recorded by the Oxford English Dictionary.
