A state park centered on a 137-acre pond formed by damming the Pachaug River, once a Mohegan fishing ground and later the site of a woolen mill. The park has 80 RV/tent campsites and a rustic cabin, swimming, boating with an 8 mph limit, and fishing for bass, pickerel, catfish and pike.

The area was long a fishing ground for the Mohegan people before English settlers arrived, drawn by the same waterways.
The town was incorporated in 1815 and named for Connecticut Governor Roger Griswold.
Jewett City incorporated separately as a borough in 1895 and grew around textile mills on the Quinebaug River; its municipal utility, now the Jewett City Department of Public Utilities, was established in 1897.
