A little history
William Pynchon, founder of Springfield, Massachusetts, built a warehouse at what is now Warehouse Point in 1636 to transship goods around the Enfield Falls, the first major falls on the Connecticut River.
The East Windsor parish was partitioned from Windsor on May 10, 1768.
In 1818, resident Solomon Ellsworth Jr. unearthed fossil bones while digging a well; they were later identified as belonging to an Anchisaurus, among the first bones recognized as dinosaur remains, and are still held at Yale.
