A little history

Bolton was incorporated in October 1720, having previously been referred to as the "Hartford Mountains" while part of Hartford.

Jonathan Edwards served as Bolton's pastor beginning in 1723, a period in which he described his own "great awakening."

The town's schist quarries supplied stone to tombstone carvers across New England in the 18th century; the former quarry community was known as Quarryville, near Bolton Notch.
