A little history

Yarmouth was incorporated on September 3, 1639, one of the earliest towns on Cape Cod, and named after Great Yarmouth in England.

The area was called Mattacheese by the Wampanoag before English settlement; the town was founded by John Crowe, Thomas Howes and Anthony Thacher.

Yarmouth had an active group of Sons of Liberty in the years before the American Revolution.
