A little history
West Stockbridge was first settled in 1766 and was officially incorporated as a town in 1774.
The town developed around 19th-century railroad commerce hauling iron ore and marble, with an ironworks in Williamsville founded by Colonel Elijah Williams, whose furnace smokestack still stands.
TurnPark Art Space opened in May 2017 on the site of a former limestone and marble quarry, turning an old industrial site into a sculpture park and performance space.
