A little history
The area was settled by colonists in the 1690s as the northern part of Eastham and was incorporated as the separate town of Truro in 1709, named for Truro in Cornwall, England.
Fishing, whaling and shipbuilding were Truro's earliest industries, drawing on its harbor at Pamet.
Highland Light, first built in 1797 and rebuilt in 1857, was the first lighthouse constructed on Cape Cod.
