A little history
Foxborough was incorporated on June 10, 1778, and named after Charles James Fox, a British Whig politician who supported the American colonies.
The original Foxboro Stadium opened in 1971 as home to the Boston/New England Patriots; it was replaced by Gillette Stadium, which opened in 2002 and was privately financed by owner Robert Kraft.
Foxboro station on the Franklin/Foxboro Line began year-round weekday commuter rail service in 2019 after decades of only hosting event trains for Patriots and Revolution games.
