A little history
European settlement in the area began around 1664 as the Pascommuck village, part of Northampton.
In 1847, the Williston-Knight Button Company was established and Nashawannuck Pond was created by damming a local brook, launching Easthampton's growth as a mill town.
Easthampton incorporated as a town in 1809 and, after more than a century as a town, adopted a city form of government in 1996.
