A little history
Windsor Locks was originally part of Windsor and was incorporated as a separate town in 1854, taking its name from canal locks that opened in 1829 to bypass the Enfield Falls on the Connecticut River.
Bradley International Airport opened as a military base in 1940 and began civilian service in 1947; it now occupies about a third of the town.
The Windsor Locks Little League team won the 1965 Little League World Series, defeating a team from Stoney Creek, Ontario.
