A little history
The area was home to the Golden Hill Paugussett before English settlers from Stratford began petitioning in 1725 to form their own village, first called Unity.
Unity merged with the village of Long Hill in 1744 to form North Stratford, which was granted independence and renamed Trumbull, after statesman Jonathan Trumbull, upon incorporation in 1797.
Aviation pioneer Igor Sikorsky lived in Trumbull during the years he developed fixed-wing aircraft and pioneered mass production of the helicopter.
