A little history
In his 1714 will, the Reverend James Pierpont of New Haven gave 8 acres to the Northeast Parish (as North Haven was then called) on condition they build their meeting house there; about half of that land remains as the North Haven Green.
The Connecticut General Assembly permitted North Haven to incorporate as a town separate from New Haven in 1786.
