Norfolk is a hill town in the Litchfield Hills of northwest Connecticut, incorporated in 1758 and named for Norfolk, England. At about 1,230 feet in elevation, it has a reputation for cold winters and cool summers, sometimes called the Icebox of Connecticut; on February 16, 1943, Norfolk recorded the lowest temperature ever measured in the state, -37°F. The historic village center around the green is a National Register historic district.
