A little history

Enfield was first settled in 1679 and incorporated as a Massachusetts town in 1683; a colonial boundary resurvey moved it into Connecticut in 1749.

Jonathan Edwards preached his sermon "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" in Enfield in 1741, during the Great Awakening.

Gunpowder manufacturing operated in Enfield's Hazardville section from the 1830s into the early 20th century.
