A nonprofit craft school founded in 1954 on a 2.5-acre campus along the Still River, centered on a historic mill building. It teaches classes in woodworking, ceramics, glass, blacksmithing, jewelry and other crafts, and its gift shop gallery sells work by member artists.

A little history
Colonists settled the area in 1710 and organized it as the Parish of Newbury, taking land from New Milford, Newtown and Danbury; it was incorporated as the town of Brookfield in 1788, named for the Rev. Thomas Brooks, the first minister of its Congregational church.
Mills were operating along the Still River as early as 1732 in what became the Iron Works District, which had iron furnaces, grist mills and other manufacturing; the old grist mill still stands as the Brookfield Craft Center.
In July 2013, Money magazine ranked Brookfield the 26th-best place to live in the United States.
